- 1) to fall, fly, be flung (øxin hraut ór hendi honum); hraut upp hurðin, the door was flung open; eldr hraut ór hlunnunum, fire sprang from the rollers; ~ spœnirnir upp í móti honum, the chips flew up into his face; h. í sundr, to be snapped asunder (í sundur hrutu baugar);
- 2) to snore (hann svaf ok hraut sterkliga).
