- 1) in a local sense;
- uppi ok niðri leitaða ek œðra vegar, up and down I sought for the higher road;
- œðra öndvegi, œðri bekkr, the upper high-seat, higher bench, opp. to úœðra öndvegi, úœðri bekkr, the lower high-seat or bench;
- 2) fig. higher in rank or dignity.
