- 1) mighty, powerful (r. höfðingi); r. ok auðigr, powerful and wealthy; ríkri (= ríkari) ráð sagði, the stronger had his way;
- 2) of things, strong (var þar ríkt varðhald); ganga ríkt, to prevail (lát þú eigi þá fæð svá ríkt ganga, at); leggja ríkt við, to lay a heavy penalty on;
- 3) magnificent (konungr gørði mannboð ríkt);
- 4) rich, wealthy (r. at fé).
