- 1) weapon-grasping, used to express consent by waving or brandishing the weapons (œptu upp allir með ~i, at þeir skyldi allir vera útlagir); gera ~ at e-u, to pass a resolution at a public assembly;
- 2) in the Icel. parliament, the breaking up of the session, when the men resumed their weapons (þat heitir ~, er alþýða riðr af alþingi);
- 3) = vápnaþing.
